THERE’S a poetry day at Moniack Mhor led by award-winnong poet Jo Shapcott on Sunday, March 13, from 10am to 4pm.
Jo, winner of the Queens Gold Medal for Poetry, is to lead the workshop at Scotland’s Creative Writing Centre. Shapcott, whose 2010 collection, Of Mutability, won the Costa Book Prize, will lead a group of writers in how to craft poems in the inspiring surroundings of Moniack Mhor.
Rachel Humphries, centre director says: "Jo visited us last year, which was our first year as an independent writing centre. The students during that week were thrilled by her readings. We’re delighted that she can come back to lead a day course as these one off events offer the opportunity for aspiring writers in the local community to learn from some the best in their field."
Jo is professor of creative writing at Royal Holloway College, University of London, and has taught at the Faber Academy and the Southbank Centre.
Poetry Day with Jo Shapcott takes place at Moniack Mhor on Sunday, March 13 from 10am – 4pm. The cost for the day is £45 including lunch, and grants are available to help with course fees.
