WRITER Doug Johnstone will return to the Highlands for an events later this year following the launch of his latest book The Jump, out today.
Doug will be the special guest of writers’ group the Highland Literary Salon in Inverness on November 24.
Doug has now written six novels, the last one being Gone Again. He is also a freelance journalist, a songwriter and musician, and has a PhD in nuclear physics. He lives in Edinburgh.
The Jump - published by Faber - begins as Ellie struggles to come to terms with the suicide of her teenage son.
She lives in the shadows of the Forth Road Bridge, wandering the footpaths close by and swimming in the waters below.
One day she talks down Sam, another suicidal teenager and sees for herself the chance to atone for her son's death.
But even with the best intentions, she can't foresee the situation she's falling towards ... a troubled family with some very dark secrets of their own.
