Event of the Week: For a high old time

Grandmaster Flash will headline the first Groove Cairngorm

NEW dance festival Groove Loch Ness proved such a hit last summer that not only is it returning for 2016, it has even created its own spin-off in Groove Cairngorm.

Taking place on and at the foot of Cairngorm today to Sunday, this is the UK’s first resort based snow-sports festival with entertainment on the mountain during the day – and coinciding with all the action of the Scottish Freestyle Championships – and an après-ski party at night at Badaguish Outdoor Centre.

Barbados born founding father of hip-hop Grandmaster Flash might seem an unlikely headliner for a Highland snowsports festival, but also keeping the festival cosy with their dance beats will be The Cuban Brothers, DJ Yoda, Glasgow synth pop act Prides, The LaFontaines, BBC Radio 1/1Xtra’s DJ Monki, Eton Messy, Skye’s Niteworks, Scottish Alternative Music Award winners Spring Break, and MG Alba Scots Trad Up and Coming Act of the Year 2014, The Elephant Sessions.
