A question – why are comedians like buses? No, it’s not because they’re cheap, filthy and unreliable (the Going Out writer scoffed satirically), but because you wait ages waiting for them and then two arrive at once!
Two comedy shows will be happening at the same time at 8pm tonight, both featuring material far less tortured than the opening paragraph you’ve just read.
First, the Comedy Bothy makes its long-awaited return to the Mad Hatters bar at Hootananny for its first show of 2017. As well as providing a stage for up-and-coming Highland comedians (regular performers have included Fiona Redwood, Mike Hendry, Donnie the Taxi Driver and Kieran Lochore), this month’s edition will also feature the return of Glasgow comic Obie, and special guest Rob Kane. It’s free entry too.
If that doesn’t sound up your street, then you can poddle down to Eden Court for left-wing firebrand Mark Thomas’s newest show “The Red Shed” – a tribute to the eponymous building where he first started performing stand-up and had his political awakening while in university. Tickets are £17 (reduced rates £3) – call 01463 234234 or go to www.eden-court.co.uk
