Event of the week: a vein of Rich humour

Rich Hall
Rich Hall

DEADPAN American comedy export Rich Hall has been making audiences laugh on both sides of the Atlantic with his absurdist humour and acerbic observations for quarter of a century.

Now dividing his time between London and a ranch in Montana, the man who was the inspiration for grouchy bartender Moe Szyslak from The Simpsons and a regular on US comedy star maker Saturday Night Live is a familiar crumpled face for UK television viewers with regular slots on shows such as QI, Have I Got News For You and Never Mind The Buzzcocks, as well as providing BBC4 audiences with an insider’s view of American culture with his own series of documentary films.

He moseys back into Inverness on Monday February 1 as he returns to Eden Court with his latest show, 3:10 To Humour — Hall’s fellow western fans will spot where he picked up the title — as part of a north of Scotland tour that will also take him to Orkney, Shetland, Lewis and Ullapool.
