The first episode of series eight returns, this time to the big screen introducing Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It, World War Z) as the twelfth Doctor. Jenna Coleman is reprising her role as the Doctor’s trusty time-travelling companion, Clara, starring alongside a whole host of regulars from the well-loved sci-fi series, including Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax. This extended feature-length episode is written by series writer, Steven Moffat, and is directed by Ben Wheatley (Kill List, Sightseers). Why You Should See It: The release of the fiftieth anniversary special of Doctor Who – Day Of The Doctor – was an unmitigated success. It brought in about eighteen shedloads of cash for the Beeb, and cemented Doctor Who's international reputation as the world's most popular Sci-Fi show.
