Release: Friday April 18th
Starring: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone
Synopsis: Peter Parker’s life has never been better: as Spider-Man he can spend his days swinging through the skyscrapers of New York City, hanging out with his girlfriend Gwen and enjoying the glory of being the city’s superhero. Unfortunately, events take a turn for the worst as the emergence of Electro pushes him to his physical and mental edge while his old friend Harry Osborne returns to his life, showing Peter that all of his enemies are connected by one thing: OsCorp.
Why You Should See It: The first Amazing Spider-Man was an exercise in reintroduction – reintroducing Spider-Man's origins, and trying to distance itself from Sam Raimi's previous take on the mythos. It did that, but was criticised by some for being dull. However, with all the boring introductions out of the way, Marc Webb's sequel can start knuckling down and start giving us what we love – New York being torn apart by Jamie Foxx of course.
This film's set to introduce some of the more famous aspects of the mythos, in particular OsCorp – and all the horror that the company wreaks. In particular, the introduction of three of Spidey's most well-known villains in Rhino, Electro and the Green Goblin (who you may remember from the originals as being played by a scenery-chewing Willem Defoe) will provide plenty of explosions for us all to gawp at. If anything else, it'll be a lot of fun.
