METAL band Fury from Worcester found their name came easily.

Drummer Alasdair Davis explained: “Our singer and guitarist Julian Jenkins came up with it. People who don’t like heavy metal always think the musicians are furious, so I guess it’s appropriate.”

Four-piece Fury – which supports Attica Rage tonight (Thursday) in Mad Hatters – has realised a dream with the release of first full album The Lightning Dream which they worked on for over a year.

Fury began recording in February 2014, often working through the night to produce what they believe to be one of the most exciting new metal albums.

Following on from rave reviews at Bloodstock 2013 (scoring a 9/10 from Live Nation) and Hammerfest 2014 (8/10 Metal Hammer), Fury’s aim was to capture their live flair and excitement on record and they believe they have done it!

The Lightning Dream’s 10 tracks cover a range of heavy metal styles and themes, from space race epic Out Beyond The Stars to the slow and heavy ghost ship experience of Haul Away.

The album ends with title track The Lightning Dream – an epic 12 minutes long.

Fury have written, recorded and produced the album with help from Pete Newdeck (ex Eden’s Curse drummer). It’s mastered by Harry Hess who has previously worked on records and reissues by Madonna, The Ramones, Barenaked Ladies and The Cancer Bats.

Inverness will be the first night of the band’s biggest tour so far and it means a lot of miles crammed into the back of the van.

But despite their name, Fury are likely to be quite chilled when it comes to getting on with each other.

Alasdair said: “The record labels interested in you want to see how you get on on a tour like this. And without falling out!

“But we should be fine.

“Nothing ever gets out of hand with the band, we always talk about everything and get things sorted out pretty quickly!”

The Fury tour for new album The Lightning Dream supporting Attica Rage – and with local band Devil’s Queen also on the bill – begins in Inverness, tonight (Thursday). Find out more: Facebook:
