Scottish Opera’s Opera Highlights tour returns in February and March with a new piece Anatomy Of A Diva created specially for it.
Alongside the new piece by Scottish Opera’s emerging artist composer in residence Lliam Paterson, there will be a programme of favourites from Verdi’s La traviata, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado – plus pieces by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Aaron Copland and Ambroise Thomas.
As usual for the annual tour which has been on the raod since 1994, a piano, handful of props and four singers will be packed into a van to visit places including Ballachulish, Lochinver, Halkirk, Strathpeffer, Cove and Lossiemouth.
The cast of four are – soprano Filipa Van Eck, mezzo-soprano Samantha Price, tenor Anthony Flaum (Macbeth 2014), and 2013 Kathleen Ferrier Song Prize winner baritone Johnny Herford.
The music will come from pianist Philip Voldman and the production is directed by Jack Furness, both current Scottish Opera emerging artists.
The dates are Ballachulish Village Hall on Thurdsay, February 18 at 7.30pm; Lochinver Village Hall on Tuesday, February 23 at 7.30pm; Ross Institute, Halkirk, on Thurdsay, February 25 at 7.30pm; Strathpeffer Pavilion on Saturday, February 27 at 7.30pm; Cove Burgh Hall, on Thursday, March 3 at 7.30pm; Lossiemouth Town Hall, on Tuesday, March 8 at 7.30pm.
