TWO musical brothers from Strontian play Fort William on Sunday – the first time their mum and sister will see them play a gig.
Jacob (19) and Rory Green (17) are on a three-strong bill hosted by music project Hit The Road at Sugar & Spice.
The brothers of Upper Scotstown have already recorded three demo tracks at Ardgour’s Watercolour Music as part of the Scottish Music Centre’s Music Plus scheme.
Jacob said: "We both had traditional music lessons when we were younger, then both taught ourselves guitar. We started writing songs, but only had one guitar, so I played accordion. We realised we could do something a wee bit different, writing contemporary songs with a traditional influence."
For the brothers – who played festivals this summer including Belladrum and gig in central Scotland - Sunday’s date means a rare home gig. Jacob is now studying sound production at Glasgow’s Clyde College and Rory has just started an English degree at Napier University in Edinburgh.
"We just write songs about things that have happened and that we want to talk about. For the gig in Fort William the songs we'll play include Let Me Down and a song called Do The Katie Step that's from this time last year when I moved to Glasgow and a few things happened to me ..." laughed Jacob.
"Our mum and sister have never seen us play a proper gig, so it will be nice to have them there. And it will be good to play and go home - after a gig away you’re usually sleeping on someone’s couch!"
Also on the bill are Zoë Bestel and Lewis Capaldi.
