INDIE rockers Two Door Cinema Club have been unveiled as Friday night headliners at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival near Kiltarlity this August.
The Northern Irish band, who will join the previously announced Madness and The Darkness at the top of the bill for this year’s event, will make Belladrum their first UK festival date following their recent announcement of "new music, new shows, new everything" for 2016.
Also announced are Scottish hard rockers Gun and folk-rockers Turin Brakes, who enjoyed chart success with their smash hit Painkiller in 2003.
Canadian multi-instrumentalist Son Of Dave will also be joining the bill, as will Scottish based contemporary folk musician and BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of The Year 2014 Bella Hardy.
Scottish band Astrid from the Isle of Lewis, who surprised many this summer by announcing they would be returning to the studio to record a fourth full-length album after a decade apart, will be playing at Belladrum for the first time, along with Glaswegian sound system, Mungo’s Hi Fi, who will also be performing at this years SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
Best Live Act winners from this years Scottish Alternative Music Awards, Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5, are also heading to the festival, while three crowd favourites from 2015, Keston Cobblers Club, Coco & The Butter Fields and Blackbeard’s Tea Party, make a quick return for 2016.
Also added to the bill are Rob Heron & The Teapad Orchestra, Holy Moly & The Crackers, veteran singer-songwriter Rab Noakes, Medicine Men, The Beau Bow Belles and one of the hottest indie-ropck bands of the moment, Liverpool's Circa Waves.
These join acts such previously announced acts as Arrested Development, The Alabama 3, Rachel Sermanni, The Dangleberries, C Duncan, Breabach, Tweed Ceilidh Band, Bella and the Bear, and The Dolly Parton Story, who reappear by popular demand.
Other acts are still to be announces for the festival which has the theme "Superstition" for its 13th year. A limited number of Saturday day tickets are now on sale via Skiddle and the usual retail agents and weekend and three day E-tickets to the event are on sale via the festival website at www.tartanheartfestival.co.uk and via www.skiddle.com or available in person from the usual agents including The Ironworks, Eden Court Theatre, Caffery’s and Hootananny’s in Inverness; Kiltarlity Post Office; Morrison’s in Beauly; Sweet Treats in Dingwall; Sound & Vision in Elgin; and Aberdeen Performing Arts.
The 2016 Belladrum Festival, which has sold out each of the last seven years, takes place on the Belladrum estate from Thursday August 4 to Saturday 6.
