Erskine

ErskineTo honour the ones who didn't come home, help Erskine care for the ones who did.

Erskine is Scotland's foremost provider of care for veterans. First founded in 1916 as a care facility for limbless WWI veterans, the charity holds close links to the north of Scotland, with a Peterhead veteran being our second ever admission.

Today Erskine cares for veterans through four care homes and a Veterans Village comprising of 44 cottages, an activity centre, five assisted living apartments and 24 single living apartments (currently under construction).

ErskineJimmy (right), 91, originally from Orkney, has enjoyed life at Erskine since 2013:

"I could have walked out of my house and never gone back again – that is how I felt. Erskine is my home now and I enjoy making friends with all the other veterans. I get involved in as many activities as I can; why come here and sit in your room?"

During the summer of 2018, Navy veteran Jimmy enjoyed a visit to HMS Neptune at Faslane. The crew gifted him a limited edition bottle of "The Dolphins" from his favourite whisky Highland Park. This is just one example of how our recreation facilities provide veterans with a full programme of social activities, entertainment and organised day trips, which are hugely beneficial to overall health and well-being.

For veterans who need help to begin the next chapter of their lives, Erskine offers social, recreation and training facilities at the activity centre, and single and family accommodation and employment opportunities in partnership with Scotland Bravest Manufacturing Co. – all within a veterans village-setting supporting veterans of all ages.

Erskine needs to raise £9m each year to support veterans in our care and to broaden our service provision in order to adapt to the changing needs of the ex-service community.

Our service personnel display the highest levels of courage throughout the world and it is only right that Erskine is there for them should they need support in the future. After 100 years of serving our country's veterans, Erskine needs your help more than ever.
