TENOR and classical guitarist Martin Aelred has performed live for presidents and prime ministers at the United Nations in New York, as well as for Prince Charles and The Dalai Lama.
This weekend, however, he performs for the people of Inverness in a charity concert that will also raise funds for Mary’s Meals, MacMillan Cancer Charities and Scottish-based international aid organisation SCIAF.
Mr Aelred is credited with performing the title track to the 2014 Ray Winstone film, Lords of London, and sticks with the movie theme for his performance in St. Columba’s Church, Culloden, on Saturday 31st May.
This classically themed audio-visual presentation will feature music from such hit films as Gladiator, Braveheart, Titanic, The Godfather and music written by the great Italian film composer Ennio Morricone for films as diverse as The Mission and the "spaghetti westerns" of Clint Eastwood.
The concert begins at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 for adults, £8 for concessions/pensioners, and £5 for students and under-18s.
They are available from St Mary’s Church Parish Office, Huntly Street, Inverness, or can be reserved in advance by telephoning 01463 233519.
