Inverness Opera casts Calamity Jane

Calamity Jane logo for IOC showINVERNESS Opera Company has revealed the cast for their next production, Calamity Jane, at Eden Court in March.

Debbie McDonnell will play sharp-shooting tomboy Calamity Jane, Martin Anderson as her friend and rival, the town's martial Wild Bill Hickok, Alison Ozog will play Katie Brown who masquerades as top  dancer Adelaide Adams, while Trevor Nicol will play the dashing Lieutenant Danny Gilmartin who Calamity has her eye on.

The show will be the opera company's 90th anniversary production.
Other members of the cast are: barman Henry Miller Gordon Taylor, Susan will be played by Jo Galloway, Francis Fryer by Pete Bullock McKie, the real Adelaide Adams by Sasha Devine, Rattlesnake by Eddie Docherty, Doc Pierce will be Ian Shearer, Joe by Steven Kelly, Hank by Gerry Sutton, Pete by Graeme White the Colonel by Stephen Vincent, Stage Door Johnnies are Graeme White, Stephen Laurie, Liam Loch and Ben Carter. The solo tenor is Stephen Laurie.

The musical follows last year's original show - set in two halves during the daytime and night-time life of a city venue. The idea was conceived for the stage by the company's Helen Barron and Martin Anderson with additional material by Trevor Nicol.

Calamity Jane  - adapted by RonaldHaznmer and Phil Park from the stage play by Charles K Freeman after the Warner Bros film written by James O'Hanlon - will be staged at Eden Court from Wednesday, March 25 to Saturday, March 28.
