The Mull of Galloway Lighthouse Holiday Cottages in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland, are the perfect choice for your next self-catering holiday.
Our three former lighthouse keepers' cottages are located at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse at the most southerly point in Scotland and offer a truly unique holiday experience surrounded by beautiful scenery, dramatic coastline and a wealth of wildlife right on your doorstep.
The self-catering holiday accommodation is sited within the lighthouse walls, next to the Stevenson Lighthouse with breathtaking sea views. The lighthouse was established in 1830 by Robert Stevenson and is still operational today. The tower is 26 meters high and there are 115 steps to the top. At certain times of the year guests can visit the top and learn about the history of the lighthouse and admire the amazing natural beauty. There are spectacular views of the Isle of Man, the Cumbrian hills and across to Ireland and the Mountains of Mourne.
The cottages are surrounded by coastal heathland and cliffs, which is also an RSPB seabird reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The cottages are owned and operated by the Mull of Galloway Trust (Scottish Charity Register No. SC043557) and are open all year round, including Christmas and New Year. Short breaks are available in low season.
Lightkeeper's Cottage sleeps up to 4 guests, Kittiwake House and Puffin House both sleep up to 6 guests. Group bookings and weddings are also welcome. The cottages are fully refurbished, modern, bright and warm and are fully equipped with everything required for a perfect self-catering holiday. Kittiwake House and Puffin House both have multi-fuel burners in the sitting rooms. Pets are welcome (maximum of 2 per booking) and Wi-Fi is provided free of charge.
The Lighthouse Holiday Cottages are the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sea views, fresh air and the local wildlife. You can see many nesting seabirds and watch out for dolphins and porpoises, plus the movement of ferries, fishing boats and pleasure craft between Scotland, Ireland, England and the Isle of Man.
