The Marcliffe Hotel was bought by Stewart Spence in 1979, moved to Queens Road as the New Marcliffe in 1983, and finally to Pitfodels, opened in 1993 by Mikhail Gorbachev.
A prestigious and intimate five-star luxury hotel, the Marcliffe is set on scenically beautiful Royal Deeside against a backdrop of 11 acres of wooded grounds. The hotel is located 5 minutes from Aberdeen city centre. The 7 suites and 33 bedrooms are all exclusively designed as a restful, elegant refuge for both the business and leisure traveller.
Among the first class facilities are 6 private banqueting and conference rooms to meet the needs of parties of 2 to 400, a collection of wonderful golfing memorabilia and a snooker room. The hotel also boasts a gym and treatment spa, offering a range of massages and hydrotherapy treatments.
The Marcliffe Conservatory Restaurant serves guests breakfast, lunch and dinner all week, utilising the very best local Scottish cuisine including Scottish beef (aged a minimum of 35 days) and cut to suit, any weight, along with fish, lobster and seafood.
The Drawing Room Bar, with comfortable seating, serves breakfast, lunch, bar meals and elegant afternoon teas containing handmade sandwiches, warm scones and cakes that can both be topped off with a glass of prosecco or champagne. Both the restaurant and Drawing Room Bar have an extensive wine list of over 400 bins, plus over 100 single malt whiskies and an impressive collection of Scottish gins.
As one of Scotland's most distinguished hotels, the Marcliffe has welcomed many high profile guests. From the British royal family we have been honoured to have HRH Prince Charles and HRH Princess Anne; foreign dignitaries including the Sultan of Brunei and Donald Trump; actor Charlton Heston and rock star Rod Stewart from the show-business world, and legendary US golfers Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson.
The Marcliffe today continues to welcome and offer guests the same great five-star service since Stewart Spence opened the doors in 1979.
