Scottish Comedy Award winner Gary Meikle plucked for stardom from Glasgow with semi-permanent iBrow Guy tour coming to Inverness for Ironworks gig

By Kyle Walker

AWARD-winning Glasgow stand-up and viral sensation Gary Meikle is set to grace the Ironworks stage later this year.

The comedian brings his show The iBrow Guy to Inverness on Saturday, October 19 as part of his “semi-permanent” tour of the country.

The 2015 Scottish Comedy Award winner for Best Newcomer will share the story of how his viral video – his rant about his daughter’s obsession with her eyebrows – became a viral hit, along with tales from his remarkable success story.

Spending much of his teens in care, and homeless at 16, Gary turned his life around after becoming a dad at 17 to his daughter Ainsley.

When Ainsley’s mother walked out when their daughter was two years old, Gary and Ainsley’s grandparents raised her together. At 14 she moved in with Gary to live with him full time. The two still have a family home together in Glasgow, along with Ainsley’s own daughter.

Writing jokes in his breaks at his old job at a call centre, Gary quickly found success on the stand-up circuit, and he left the office behind to take up comedy as a full-time passion – bringing his playful observations to clubs across the country – and beyond.

Before his headline gig at the Ironworks, August will see Gary set to embark on a tour across North America.

For the Ironworks gig, tickets are on sale now and cost £15. For more information go to www.garymeikle.com
