Electro Celtic band record new album

By Margaret Chrystall

TICKETS have just gone on sale for Face The West who will appear in a double-headlining gig with Heron Valley at the Ironworks, Inverness, on Saturday, September 14.

The ‘electro Celtic’ band from Lewis started out in August 1998, rehearsing in reclaimed Harris Tweed mill buildings with their first – and could have been last! – gig played at a very stormy village bonfire just outside Stornoway.

Their history since includes being nominated for live act of the year at the 2009 Scottish Trad Awards.

As well as performing at many festivals over the years including the HebCelt, Tiree Music Festival, Barrafest, Orkney Folk Festival plus multiple appearances at Glasgow's winter festival in George Square, they have also performed as far from home as Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

But after five years away, the band are back and have crowdfunded a new album called The Tunes.

Tickets are on sale now at the venue box office or www.ironworksvenue.com
