By Margaret Chrystall

FORMER Orange Juice mainman and soloist Edwyn Collins – whose ninth solo album Badbea is out now – will play the Ironworks, Inverness on Monday, September 2.

Tickets are on sale from Friday for the gig which is part of a set of tour dates just announced.

Badbea is Edwyn’s first release since moving his home and studio to Helmsdale in 2014.

His last album Understated was out in March 2013.

Building the new studio from scratch, Edwyn and his wife Grace have created the Clashnarrow Studios on the hills overlooking Helmsdale.

Edwyn completed work on Badbea with co-producer Sean Read (Dexys, The Rockingbirds) and long-term musical cohorts Carwyn Ellis (Colorama) and James Walbourne (The Pretenders / The Rails).

The album is released on Edwyn’s label AED.
