Meet Belladrum's Cailleach – the winning design in the Tartan Heart Featival's competition among Scottish art students to discover their new designer to create this year's festival artwork
The winning young artist in Belladrum's competition to find an art student to create wthis year's festival posters and other artwork is Francesca Grech – meet her Cailleach!
Belladrum organisers launched a search in December 2across Scotland's Art Schools to find an emerging designer to create some striking designs for their 2022 Myths And Legends festival artwork.
It was Francesca Grech who won out with her "whimsical design" and her inspiration behind it.
"We loved that she presented The Cailleach – described in myth as a hag and a goddess with one-eye and crimson teeth who formed the Scottish hills and mountains," Belladrum organisers say.
The artist explained how she linked her desig with an idea of Belladrum and its landscape in the Highlands.
"The main inspiration for this were the ties that both the Cailleach and the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival have with the Highlands.
"Her hair forms the landscape and sea, with mountains and valleys.
"The idea of this design is to have the festival and the character interwoven within it."
And Belladrum have now confirmed that artist Fran will be joining them on site this year to help us with the festival's art installations!
