New EP from Cromarty's Tamzene proud of songs she made in lockdown

By Margaret Chrystall

Tamzene has a new EP coming out on Friday as she emerges from what has been an extremely challenging 18 months for all artists.

The four-track Home Tapes EP has a stripped- back collection of songs, written during the pandemic and self-recorded on her family piano at her childhood home in Cromarty.

The four-track follows on from her lockdown release Accidentally Told You, and showcases her voice in a series of recordings.

“Home Tapes came from months spent writing at my childhood home in the Highlands,” Tamzene explains.

“Although the spring/summer of 2020 was a difficult and dark time for everyone, I was able to find solace in meeting new collaborators via Zoom, and recording the songs with my own simple home set-up.

"This is what kept me going. I’m so proud of these songs and happy that I’m able to share them now, I hope they can speak to some shared experiences and find new meanings.”
