Seven top tips for what's on across the Highlands and Moray from Friday, June 14 to Thursday, June 20

Every week What's On North offers up seven top picks from across the north of Scotland for arts-lovers to feast on. This week features classical music for all ages, a top Canadian fiddler, A BBC Folk Award-winner in Tim Edey and and rock 'n' roll icons, and a Pink Floyd tribute band! 1 WITH Scottish Chamber Orchestra Saturday concerts, babies, toddlers and their grown-ups can enjoy the sound of classical music.

Big Ears Little Ears (10.30am and 11.45am) at Lyth Arts Centre, Caithness, and the evening chamber concert (7.30pm) at Thurso West Church will entertain the age groups on Saturday.

The concerts come as part of three days of creative learning with SCO musicians from Saturday to Monday.

On Sunday, June 16, Come Play with the SCO and Caithness Music is on at Lyth Arts Centre (10am).

Seven SCO musicians will be in residence at Lyth for three days of creative learning activity to get people of all ages involved in a series of interactive workshops and performances.

Local Brass Ensemble members will receive expert coaching, and musicians of all ages are invited to ‘come and play’ at Thurso High School with the SCO and Caithness Music.

And primary schools will take part in musical storytelling workshops, while musicians will also visit care homes with ReConnect interactive workshops. Details and ticket info: sco.org.uk/joinin

2 PINK Floyd fans will wish they were here when tribute Atom Heart Floyd performs at Elgin Town Hall on Saturday, June 15 at 7.30pm.

Focusing on delivering the songs every Pink Floyd fan wants to hear, along with a few extra rarities and album tracks, Atom Heart Floyd deliver over two hours of music including songs from The Wall, Wish You Were Here, and The Dark Side of the Moon, plus songs from Animals, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Meddle, The Final Cut, The Division Bell, and A Momentary Lapse of Reason. With visuals throughout, the band perform songs from the entire back catalogue. Ticket details: www.elgintownhall.co.uk

3 Musick Fyne, directed by James Ross, appear at Pluscarden Abbey on Saturday, June 15, with Inverness Trombones to play music by Byrd, Pärt, Gabrieli, Stanford and Mundy. Entry will be by a £10 programme on sale at the door.

4 Nairn musician Mike Vass plays the Universal Hall, Findhorn, on Wednesday, June 19 at 7.30pm and on Thursday, June 20, he will play Lyth Arts Centre at 8pm.

7 The Poozies and Annie Sumi will play the Old Bridge Inn, Aviemore, on Sunday, June 16 from 8.30pm to 11pm.

The Poozies are seen as trailblazers of female folk. Annie Sumi, with the support of the Ontario Arts Council, has toured across Canada coast-to-coast – and Europe.
